If you are a Flash designer/developer you have the power to create compelling work with Flash Pro, Flex, AS3 for AIR on mobile devices. It’s not scary. The key is to learn the tricks, the ins-and-outs, of what it takes to build for mobile devices, beyond just code optimizations, and taking the time to do so. You don’t have to learn a whole new skill set or programming language or spend a ton of money on another development environment. (Although, I still highly suggest learning outside your comfort zone, because 1. it’s fun 2. it’ll make you more valuable in jobs, and 3. you’ll be more of a badass.) All it takes is harnessing your potential, slow down, take a breath and realize it’s not as difficult as you may think.
Wanna learn more about AIR for iOS (or Android)?
I hosting a Bring Your Own Device Lab at Adobe MAX in October, where I will be training how how to start, some of the important information about, and build applications for Android and iOS from Flash Pro CS5.5. I know I will be giving a preview of the Lab at the Seattle Flash User Group sometime this summer, so if you’re in the area, come get some free education. I can teach you, yes, even you, how to get a simple application on to your phone/tablet in less than 5 minutes. You’ll be able to see just how easy it is to leverage the tools that you probably already have on our computers (and if not, you can download the trial).
